Part 4: the final chapter…
Part 3: The instrumental/beat tape edition…
Back with part 2. The England edition…
B.O.M.B.S – back on my blog sh*t.
I didn’t really get to post a lot of new music last year, so it’s only right to catch up on my personal top releases from 2019. I split the whole thing into 4 parts to make it a bit more digestible. So let’s get right to it:
Now this is the perfect soundtrack for your summer!
Germany’s super-producer Shuko (who’s worked with artists like Rakim, Talib Kweli, Tyga and T-Pain, just to name a few) has joined forces with fellow producer The Breed to bring you “Dippin'”, a homage to the 90’s West Coast sound.
10 instrumental bangers + the first single featuring Gangsta Rap legends King Tee and MC Eiht.
Stream both, single and album, here:
Without a doubt, Curren$y is one of the hardest working artists in hip-hop, once again dropping quality projects back to back.
After teaming up with Freddie Gibbs & the Alchemist for the end of last year’s “Fetti” and his potna in (c)rhyme Wiz Khalifa for “2009” earlier this year, Spitta reconnects with fellow workaholics LNDN DRGS (Jay Worthy & Sean House) for the laid back “Umbrella Symphony” EP.
And as if that wasn’t enough, he drops another fire collabo project for the East Coast heads with yet another hard working craftsman by the name of DJ Statik Selektah (who also just recently released a phenomenal LP with Bun B called “TrillStatik”). The 10-track album features Jadakiss, YBN Cordae, Jim Jones, and Termanology.
Stream and/or download both projects for free below:
Harlem producer VDon has released part 4 of his “Lost Gemz” instrumental album series.
13 grimey beats for your listening/rapping pleasure.
As a nice little bonus I’ve included the 3 previous parts as well.
Stream the “Lost Gemz” series here:
Capone-N-Noreaga‘s NORE is back with his first solo album in 6 years, “5E”.
The rapper turned podcaster (check out N.O.R.E‘s “Drink Champs” show on YouTube!) is returning to his roots with his latest effort and pays homage to his humble beginnings in the apartment complex of Lefrak City, Queens where he was born and raised.
Stream the entire project and/or watch the hilarious video for “Don’t Know” here:
BattleCat protege Amplified has (quietly) released his beautiful debut album, “Authenticity”. It’s essentially G-Funk music par excellence. Real music. 13 mostly instrumental songs. Fine-tuned and sprinkled with a couple of West Coast big dogs on a hook or a verse: Snoop Dogg, Tha Dogg Pound, Kokane, Butch Cassidy, Mykestro, Focus…, Mr. Porter.
So go ahead and stream this amazing body of work below.
To top it all off, you can listen to and/or download the “leftover” EP, “Almost Authenticity”, (for free) as well:
The breezy, soulful project was produced entirely by Bay Area producer/DJ King Most.
You’ve always enjoyed Snoop Dogg‘s early work? Then do yourself a favor and listen to this 4-track EP and watch the video for the title track below:
