Meet Miami lyricist Sylvan LaCue (fka QuESt).
Previously signed to Logic‘s Visionary Music Group, the rapper parted ways with the label due to differences with the management, before forming his own collective, WiseUp & Co..
Ever since his first mixtape back in 2009, the Florida MC has delivered countless projects filled with real-life experiences you can’t help but relate to. And with “Apologies In Advance”, he’s taken it to a whole nother level.
Sylvan about the album:
“‘Apologies in Advance’ is a concept album surrounded around the idea of an AA meeting but for emotions. Each song on the album represents an emotion to confront. My goal for this album is to get as many of us to start opening up and talking about some of the issues that we deal with on a day to day basis in an effort to heal.”
Before listening to the album and/or watching the video for “5:55” below, Sylvan recommends to run through the accompanying short-film first:
“Please take the time to watch this short film all the way through. Its a crucial part of this album experience, & it will help you further be prepared for the albumexperience later on. Thank you guys so much for your genuine love & support. We did it y’all! WiseUp.”
So take at least one and a half hours off and prepare yourself for an emotional journey…
